Retrofit Existing Structures with the Retractable Forester Canopy Shade System
Many patio covers with overhead slats simply don’t provide enough shade. Now you can retrofit these structures with our Forester canopy kit! The Forester is our complete overhead tracking and canopy shade system that attaches to your existing wood structure or can integrate into a new build.
This versatile system works with three tracking systems:
- Standard Double-Sided Track: Quickly retrofit canopies to an existing structure by mounting tracks independently underneath the rafters.
- Single-Sided Strip Track: Create a seamless look by attaching simple track and custom cut canopies in between rafters. Tracks available in white, black, beige or taupe.
- Under Beam Double-Sided Track: Minimize tracks by mounting under existing rafters, allowing wider spaced canopies. Custom cutting available.

The Forester Model | Canopy Kit
Adapts to existing structures, or design your own. The wood structure can be as simple or as elaborate as you wish. Support posts can be attached to your existing deck, or placed in holes dug in the ground. Or, you can mount the awning system under an existing arbor. As an alternative to our standard, 2-sided aluminum tracks, ShadeTree®, awnings can be mounted between beams using our StripTrack System, or under the beams using our “underbeam mounted” double-sided track.
The Forester Canopy Kit
Standard Double-Sided Track
Our standard double-sided track is ideal for a quick retro-fit. Attach canopies to an existing structure by mounting independently between two headers. Track placement is not critical and canopy widths are typically our standard 60” or 46” widths, but custom widths are available. Tracks are available in white, black, and taupe.
Single-Sided Strip Track
Our strip track is a popular option when starting from scratch. You can design your own pergola or shade structure to create more of a custom look. Simply space your rafters based on the standard 60”, 46”, or 30” widths. Canopies can be custom-cut so they fit your specific needs. Tracks are available in white, black, taupe, and beige.
Underbeam Double-sided Track
The underbeam double-sided track provides a third mounting option where there is an existing structure. When the spacing between your beams is too narrow, the under mount track can be positioned to skip some beams allowing for wider canopy widths. These tracks can also be mounted perpendicular to your existing beams. Canopies can be custom-cut at no extra charges so that they fit your specific needs. Tracks are available in white, black, or taupe.
